Mr. Quentin Eugene (Q Dog) Strickland, 26, of 3695 Elrod Road Maxton was born August 30, 1989 and went to a peaceful sleep Thursday, March 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather: Mr. Eugene Brooks; a paternal grandfather: Mr. Edward Strickland; paternal grandmother: Mrs. Florence Strickland.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Lumber River Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Rev. Scottie Deal and Bro. Fred Strickland. Burial will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his mother: Mrs. Sherry Brooks and stepdad Mr. Greg Locklear; his father Mr. Fred Strickland and stepmom: Mrs. Dorothy Strickland; two sisters: Ms. Gwen Locklear and Ms. Taylor Locklear; a grandma: Mrs. Lois Brooks, and was blessed with a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and also a multitude of cherished friends.
Quentin loved his community (Evans Crossroads). He was a laid back special person who didn’t want or ask for much. He just loved the simple things in life. Above all he put others before himself and he always made sure he took care of his mama and grandma.
Throughout his illness Quentin was a fighter. He was a brave soldier. Quentin grew weary and God finally said “Son Close your eyes and I will give you rest”. Peace be with you Quentin.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
