Mr. George Pate Oxendine

Mr. George Pate Oxendine, 87, of 1268 Faith Road, was born August 27, 1924 and died Friday, February 17, 2012, at his home.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Annie Pearl Oxendine; his parents: Mr. Giles & Mrs. Charity Oxendine; two sisters: Ms. Crida M. Lowery and Ms. Heannie O. Ransom and a brother: Mr. Curley D. Oxendine.
Mr. George was a decorated WW II and Korean War veteran with 21 years of service in the United States Army.  He also served Greenpine Freewill Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Greenpine Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Bobby D. Locklear and Clifford Locklear officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenpine Church Cemetery.
Surviving are five sons: Mr. Larry E. Oxendine of the home and his friend: Ms. Jan Oxendine, Mr. Phillip Oxendine, Rev. Anthony (Tony) Oxendine and his wife: Mrs. Beulah, Mr. Randy Oxendine and Mr. George P. Oxendine, Jr. and his wife: Mrs. Linda all of Pembroke; a daughter: Mrs. Joanne O. Ramey and her husband: Mr. Dan of Knoxville, TN; two sisters: Mrs. Adief B. Oxendine and Mrs. Juanita O. Locklear both of Pembroke; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.  Special thanks and love to Ms. Stephanie and Mr. Troy Jacobs for their love and care of Mr. George following the death of Mrs. Annie Pearl and also thanks to Ms. Deb Chavis for her love and care of our father.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.  Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church.
