Mrs. Victoria “Vicki” Brooks Lowry, 71, of Pembroke, left her mortal coil and ascended into the heavenlies before the presence of her Lord on the afternoon of Saturday, September 6, 2014, following a brief illness while at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Venus & Mrs. Lucy Belle Brooks; a brother: Mr. Samuel Brooks and her husband: Mr. Garnett K. Lowry.
Ms. Vicki was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to many. She grew up in the Pembroke area and she dearly loved her Indian people and was an active and vibrant member of that community. A lifelong member of the Pembroke Gospel Chapel, Ms. Vicki cherished her church family and sought to reflect Christ in every facet of her life.
For more than 25 years, Ms. Vicki was an educator in the Robeson County School System in the Pembroke district. As a passionate teacher, Ms. Vicki helped to shape and mold the lives of many of her students whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Pembroke Gospel Chapel. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery in the Redbanks area.
Mrs. Lowry is survived by her daughters: Mrs. Lisa Stover Grissom(Joey) of Raleigh and Ms. Kelli Stover Bullard of Pembroke; a son: Dr. Garnett Marcus Lowry(Karen) of Southern Pines; a brother: Mr. Venus Brooks, Jr.(Patsy) of Tyler, TX and a sister: Mrs. Bellene Caldwell(Richard) of Pleasant Gardens; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
