Mrs. Minnie Flowers Sampson Lowry, 78, of 540 Cornith Road, Pembroke, departed this life on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Highsmith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville after a lengthy illness. She was more affectionately called “Wick” within the family. She was born August 19, 1934 to the late Mr. Quinnie Sampson and his wife, Mrs. Hattie Roe Locklear Sampson Sanchez. She was also preceded in death by an aunt with whom she lived while growing up, Miss Anna Mae Locklear; a brother: Mr. Charles Thomas Sampson; two sisters: Mrs. Ola Lee S. Burns and Mrs. Katherine Locklear and a grandson: Mr. B. William Lowry.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Berea Baptist Church with the burial to follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lowry is survived by her husband of 63 years: Mr. Billy Lowry, Jr. of the home; three sons: Mr. Mitchell Lowry(Rosalind), Mr. Billy Dexter Lowry and Mr. Charles F. “Ricky” Lowry(Cindy) all of Pembroke; three daughters: Mrs. Patricia L. Chavis(Kenneth), Ms. Pamela L. Locklear and Mrs. Deana L. Warriax(Don) all of Pembroke; a brother: Mr. Hubert Earl Sampson(Eileen); a sister-in-law: Ms. Vester Mae Revels; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Special caregivers she was blessed with: Ms. Phyllis Revels, Ms. Mattie Bell Damico; and a special friend in life: Ms. Janice C. Oxendine.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
