Mr. Donald Edward Lowry, 70, of 194 Velma Drive, Rowland, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was known as “Ducky” to his friends, family and fishing and cooking buddies. He loved to fish, cook fish, barbeque and enjoy varied fishing conversations.
He enjoyed his church family, his Sunday School class, and the church services each and every Sunday thus giving and leaving a very spiritual testimony for his love of God and the things concerning his Savior.
He was born on February 9, 1945 to Mr. George and Mrs. Esther Locklear Lowry and was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Esther Locklear Lowry; two brothers: Mr. Archie Lowry and Mr. Cleo Lowry and a sister: Ms. Candice Tuttle.
The funeral will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Revs: Chris Locklear and George Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.
Mr. Lowry is survived by his wife: Mrs. Roxanna M. Lowry; a step-daughter: Mrs. Karen Kay Deese(Bobby Sampson) of Pembroke; a step-son: Mr. Pernell Deese, Jr.(Frances) of Knightdale; his father: Mr. George Millard Lowry of Lumberton; a brother: Mr. Luther Wilton Lowry(Micheline) of Pembroke; two sisters: Mrs. Annie Ruth Bullard of Pembroke and Mrs. Janice Locklear(Rev. Douglas) of Lumberton and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
