Mrs. Goldie Lowery, 90, of 6342 Hwy 72 West, Pembroke, ascended into glory on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She is preceded in death by her parents: Mr. R. D. & Mrs. Rockie J. Cummings Locklear; her husband: Mr. Sandy Allen “Candy” Lowery, Sr.; her sons: Mr. George Allen Locklear and Mr. Bobby Allen Lowery and a grandson: Mr. Steve Allen Locklear; three sisters: Mrs. Nancy Jones, Mrs. Sarah Clark and Mrs. Violet Tyner and five brothers: Mr. Governor Locklear, Mr. John L. Locklear, Rev. Sanford Locklear, Mr. Titus Locklear and Mr. James B. Locklear.
Mrs. Lowery was a devoted member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a loving person who would always help when others were in need.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Steve Strickland, David Lee Oxendine, John L. Locklear, Jr. and Bro. Harlie Well Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons: Mr. Sandy Allen Lowery, Jr. and his wife: Mrs. Demetrice of Pembroke and Mr. Tyrone Lowery of Lumberton; two daughters: Mrs. Annie Ruth Maynor and Mrs. Annie Pearl Lowry and her husband: Mr. Garnie all of Pembroke; a brother: Mr. Henry Lee Locklear of Pembroke; a sister: Mrs. Odessa Locklear of Pembroke; two daughters-in-law: Mrs. Gertrude Locklear and Mrs. Mary Lowry six special granddaughters: Ms. India Lowry, Ms. Wanda Carter, Ms. Myra Deese, Ms. Ramona Roberts, and Ms. Gina Revels; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
