Mrs. Sarah “Doshia” Locklear

     Mrs. Sarah “Doshia” Locklear of 460 Alford Farm Road of Maxton, departed this life on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the age of 79.  She exited this life to her eternal home in heaven surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. James Willie Porter and Ms. Kitty Bell Jacobs; a daughter: Ms. Mary Bell Locklear; a son: Mr. Alvin Jacobs; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mr. Danny Jacobs and Mr. Ledbetter Jacobs Jr. and a sister: Ms. Mary Lee Jacobs.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs: Lindbergh Chavis, Chris Locklear and Nathan Locklear officiating. Entombment will follow in the House of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Locklear leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 64 years: Mr. Charlie Locklear of the home; five sons: Mr. Charlie Vance Locklear (Cindy) and Mr. Randy Locklear (Tina) of Wagram, Mr. James Edward Locklear (Alice) of Raeford, Mr. Allen Locklear (Sylvia) and Rev. Chris Locklear (Connie) of Maxton; six daughters: Ms. Sarah Bullard of Fairmont, Ms. Mary Ann Ball, Ms. Nancy Locklear and Ms. Pearl Oxendine of Maxton, Mrs. Jane Tilson (Bill) of Aberdeen, and step-daughter: Mrs. Patricia Hardin (Michael) of Rennert; three brothers: Mr. Willie Jacobs (Elsie) of Red Springs,  Mr. Jimmy Jacobs and Mr. Bobby Ray Jacobs (Carol) of Raeford; 41 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, a special family friend: Mr. Mitchell Locklear and a host of relatives and friends.  Also a special thank you to Scotland County Hospice for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Locklear.
Mrs. “Doshia” devoted her life to taking care of her family.  She was a homemaker, a seamstress, a gardener and a canner.  To her husband she was a loving wife, to her family she was a great cook, a loving mother and grandmother; to her brothers she was a wonderful sister and to her friends a loyal and trustworthy companion.  Mrs. Locklear was a faithful member of Crossway Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC where she loved everyone and everyone loved her.  Mrs. “Doshia” greatest desire was to see all her family and friends saved.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
