Mrs. Reola Locklear, 91, of 40 Reola Drive, Red Springs, was born August 25, 1922, and departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at her home. She is preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband of 70 years: Mr. Russell Locklear; her parents: Mr. Braxton Locklear and Mrs. Anna Jane Locklear; a son: Mr. Russell Locklear Jr.; two grandchildren: Mr. Henry Bonnette and Mr. Chad Everette Carter; three brothers; Mr. Harley W. Locklear, Mr. Munson Locklear, and Mr. Jesse Colonel Locklear; five sisters; Ms. Viola Hunt, Ms. Quessie Mae Oxendine, Ms. Mamie Lee Locklear, Ms. Blue Bell Lancaster, and Ms. Mattie Bell Oxendine.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Praise and Worship Ministries with the Revs: Teddy Jacobs, Chris Miller, and Ricky Deese officiating. Burial will follow in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Locklear is survived by five sons: Mr. Charles (Peggy) Locklear of Willow Springs, NC, Mr. Jessie (Vicky) Locklear of Lumberton, Rev. Marlie (Marcia) Locklear, Mr. Jerry Ray (Sue) Locklear, and Mr. Larry (Patsy) Locklear all of Red Springs; five daughters: Mrs. Ola Lee (Clarmont) Bonnette, Mrs. Angela (Randy) Scott, both of Pembroke, Mrs. Diana (Carlton) Locklear, Mrs. Rose Mary (James) Locklear, Mrs. Teresa (Rev.Teddy) Jacobs, all of Red Springs; seven brothers: Mr. Early B. Locklear, Mr. Spencer Locklear, Mr. Billy Locklear, Mr. Huberton Locklear, Mr. James Locklear, Mr. Charlis Locklear, and Mr. Wayne Locklear; four sisters: Mrs. Winnie Lee Jones, Mrs. Mary Lee Locklear, Mrs. Lenora Locklear, and Mrs. Jan Locklear; thirty grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; a special nephew: Mr. Harold Hunt; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Locklear was blessed enough to see all eleven her children get saved. She also sang with The Locklear Sisters for 50 years.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2013, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
