Mrs. Lori Dennese Jones, age 53, of 1408 East Roosevelt Street, Dillon, SC left her earthly home for a heavenly mansion on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. Lori was born on July 29, 1960 to Mr. Wilbur and the late Mrs. Mary Lois Oxendine. Lori was mothered by Mrs. Bertha Locklear. Lori is survived by her husband of 31 years James A. Jones Jr. of Dillon, SC, and her miracle child, a daughter, Brittni Elise Jones of Charleston, SC. her parents Mr. Wilbur and Mrs. Bertha Locklear, two brothers; Stanphane (Yvonne) and Trent Locklear all of Pembroke, NC. Lori was preceded to heaven by her paternal mother Mrs. Mary Lois Oxendine.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Berea Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Mangum officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery.
After graduating from Pembroke State University today known as The University of North Carolina-Pembroke she began her career of teaching music in the classroom for almost 30 years. Lori was multi-talented not just in the classroom but taught music in the evenings to students who under her directorship developed a love for music. She continued to touch the lives of many by directing the church choir at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Dillon, SC. Lori shared her talents at the Pines Nursing home in Dillon, the Dillon County Jail, numerous community projects and monetarily touching lives abroad.
Above all Lori gave of her talents, and with these she was selfless, giving God the glory. The ultimate satisfaction for Lori was her ability to uplift others. Lori’s last request was for the funeral to serve “as a final witness for the Lord” encouraging others to serve her Savior!
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Berea Baptist Church.
