Mr. Benny Anderson Deeringwater, 78, of 301 Charlotte’s Road, Red Springs, was born December 8, 1933 and died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Charlie D. & Mrs. Rose Fixico Deeringwater; a son: Mr. Ronald Dale Deeringwater and a sister: Ms. Ruby Fixico.
Mr. Deeringwater served his country proudly in the US Army and served in The Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Minister Ray Vanderpool officiating.
Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Thelma L. Deeringwater of the home; two sons: Mr. Renny D. Deeringwater of the home and Mr. David M. Deeringwater of Lumberton; two daughters: Ms. Teresa F. Purpuro of Helena, MT and Ms. Debra Lee Weiss of Fayetteville; three brothers: Mr. Charlie Deeringwater, Jr., Mr. Louie Deeringwater and Mr. Ray Deeringwater all of Oklahoma; two sisters: Ms. Martha Deeringwater and Ms. Anna Lou Croft both of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
